St Jude’s Church, Kensington is reopened by the Bishop of London and the Bishop of Chelmsford as a Theological College, with five hundred active students. The comprehensive redevelopment of a Victorian Grade II* listed church includes lecture rooms, offices, a library, café and full amenities. The College now features on the London Diocese website and on The Times website.

HMDW Architects wins the King of Prussia Gold Medal Award, 2012, for external conservation repairs to the Chapel Royal. It was awarded by Prince Nicholas von Preussen, at the Ecclesiastical Architects’ & Surveyors’ Association AGM, at Westminster Cathedral. It also received a ‘Highly Commended’ Award from the Sussex Heritage Trust Awards, 2013.

HMDW Architects has wide ranging and rigorous expertise in conservation and restoration, drawing on experience from developments of grade I, II* and II listed buildings. We have rejuvenated listed buildings dating back to 1086, completing projects such as The Phoenix Cinema, St Augustine’s, Highbury, St Jude’s Church, Kensington, as well as commercial renovations within Millbank Tower and significant redevelopment schemes for the Bank of England.

We have recently completed restoration works to The Welsh Chapel, which was championed by television presenter Huw Edwards.

Our schemes meet the often complex demands of the client, whilst engaging positively with English Heritage, The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings, and other amenity groups. We strive to produce designs that are sympathetic to the site, as well as the existing buildings, without imposing a particular in-house style on the client. The Principal and Directors each have decades of experience within the field and are AABC registered (Architects Accredited in Building Conservation). They personally oversee and manage all projects from concept to completion.
